The new Varner Favorite is a .22 caliber single shot rifle closely
modeled after the turn of the century gun made by J. Stevens Arms and Tool Company. This
swinging block, lever action rifle is a model of simplicity and reliability. The many
features that make the "Favorite" so desirable are not found in the guns of
later design, such as the simple take
down
feature that enables the user to remove the barrel and fore-end by turning one ringed take
down screw by hand. The fact that most of the weight of the "Favorite" is in the
barrel makes the gun easier to hold steady, and the stiffness of this heavy barrel aids
accuracy. The sights, either metallic or telescopic are mounted on the barrel assuring
constant alignment no matter how many times the gun is broken down. The Varner Favorite
action is made of premium high carbon steel carefully heat treated and should, with
reasonable care, outlast the original "Favorites" and it's classic looks are
timeless.
